How did Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg know how to lead companies without employee experience?

Updated: Jan 5

(Answer requested by Tim C.)

Tim,

How did anyone ever learn how to do anything?

There are two ways to learn how to swim.

1. You can take classes and ease your way in methodically.

Or,

2. You can get thrown in.

Elon Musk & Mark Zuckerberg didn't know how.

They figured out how.

When you want to achieve something badly enough, you figure out a way.

Moreover, being an employee doesn't necessarily translate to leadership skills or the ability to effectively delegate.

An employee is told what to do.

A manager must know what to do.

Task delegation is the name of the game, and if you know how to recruit amazing people, you can build an amazing company.
